Summit Brewing’s Nialas IPA looks the part. It just doesn’t taste like it.

Can Art

Kinda cool! Similar vibe to the Summit Nialas Latitude, with a design that reflects its Minnesota roots—lakes, trees, and an outdoorsy feel.

Look

Pretty Damn. Good. Crystal clear, golden amber, with a nice head. Visually, it nails the classic American IPA look.

Smell

Here’s where things start to unravel. The aroma is weak, with just a hint of raw wort sneaking in. It’s the kind of smell that makes you brace yourself for what’s coming next.

Mouthfeel

Harsh, slightly abrasive, and not in the way a good IPA should be. The long, lingering bitterness doesn’t leave you wanting another sip—it just overstays its welcome.

Taste

The hops are there, but not in a good way. More bitter bite than balanced flavor, and that raw wort characteristic refuses to be ignored. The finish is long, but not in a way that makes you want to savor it.

Final Verdict

Summit is a legend in the Minnesota beer scene, and I was rooting for this one. But no matter how much I wanted to like it, I just didn’t. A classic case of great looks, disappointing execution.
