For all the hype surrounding Bero, Edge Hill Hazy IPA was a letdown. The can proudly proclaims, “Born in London, Crafted in America,” but if this is the best of British NA beer, they’ve got some catching up to do. Plenty of better options out there.

Can Art

Boring. That’s the only way to describe it. Maroon and gold might work for the Washington Commanders, but here it just reflects light awkwardly and makes the script annoyingly hard to read.

Look

Not exactly what you’d expect from a hazy IPA, but still decent. It pours a nice golden hue, slightly opaque, with a solid head—if only the rest of the beer lived up to the visuals.

Smell

If there’s an aroma, it’s playing an intense game of hide-and-seek. Almost no scent at all, which is never a good sign.

Mouthfeel

Carbonation is decent, and while the body is a little thin, it’s not terrible. For me this beer drinks more like a standard American IPA than a hazy.

Taste

From the first sip, you know this is an NA beer—the cardinal sin of nonalcoholic beers. The hop bitterness is harsh and screams NA. Add in an unpleasant aftertaste, and it’s a tough one to recommend.

Final Verdict

Bero’s Edge Hill Hazy IPA is proof that not all craft NA beers are created equal. While it looks decent in the glass, the lack of aroma, thin body, and harsh bitterness make it a pass for me. The Brits can keep this one.
