Free Wave Hazy IPA is a solid entry in the NA hazy category. It looks great, smells inviting, and delivers a flavorful, hop-forward experience. While it’s not perfect, it’s definitely one of the better nonalcoholic hazy IPAs out there.
Can Art
Pretty underwhelming. Athletic Brewing sticks to their usual minimalist design, this time in orange with dark blue highlights.
Look
This one looks the part—fully opaque, with a vibrant orangish-gold hue that fits the hazy style. A decent head forms but dissipates fairly quickly.
Smell
Fresh, hoppy, and citrusy. It builds anticipation for the first sip in all the right ways.
Mouthfeel
Decent but a little on the thin side for a hazy. Could use a touch more body to really nail the style.
Taste
Bright citrus, nice hop character, and a very enjoyable flavor profile. The biggest drawback is the aftertaste—a lingering bitterness that overstays its welcome.
Final Verdict
If you’re a fan of hazy IPAs, you’ll likely enjoy this one. Despite a slightly thin body and a bitter finish, Free Wave Hazy IPA does a lot right and remains a top choice for an NA hazy.
