Electro-Lime by Best Day Brewing: I’m not into it, but maybe you will be.
Packaging
I actually dig the can design on this one; it’s a step up from the usual Best Day offering, sporting eye-catching green and yellow colors that nod to a vaguely Mexican aesthetic—definitely more fun than your average label.
Look
Pour it out, and you’ll see it looks pale, even for a Mexican lager. There’s barely any head to speak of, and what little there is evaporates faster than a puddle of beer in the Mexican sun.
Smell
The aroma? Well, it’s all lime—no surprises there. But let’s be honest, lime isn’t exactly a beer scent, so it raises an eyebrow right off the bat.
Mouthfeel
Unfortunately, the mouthfeel pretty much misses the mark, too. It’s way overcarbonated, making it hard to discern any real texture. Those bubbles take over, leaving your mouth feeling more prickly than refreshing.
Taste
When it comes to flavor, lime reigns supreme here, but not in a good way. The only other note hangs on with a slightly unpleasant bitter finish that doesn’t quite make sense in this context.
Final Verdict
Overall, this one just doesn’t hit the spot for me. If you’re in the mood for a Mexican-style lager, you’d be better off with a good old NA Corona and a lime on the side.
