The liquid version of C-SPAN: I’m sure it’s for somebody, but not me.
Can Art
Super boring. It looks like Athletic’s version of a MIller Lite ca….wait, maybe that’s intentional.
Look
Nails the style. Light golden, crystal clear, little head to speak of, and no lacing. If you poured this next to a standard light beer, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
Smell
Surprisingly decent at first. Some hop aroma comes through when you first crack the can, but it dissipates quickly.
Mouthfeel
Harsh and overcarbonated—more seltzer-like than beer-like. It’s thin, as expected for the style, but it doesn’t feel particularly pleasant to drink.
Taste
This is where things get confusing. Presumably, most NA beer drinkers actually like beer, and light beer has never been about flavor. So who is this for? If I closed my eyes and ignored the color, I’d assume I was drinking hop water.
Final Verdict
If, for some reason, you want a nonalcoholic light beer, this technically fits the bill. But if you actually enjoy beer, you’ll probably want to look elsewhere. It’s not for me.
