Analc0lica by Tourtel is a nonalcoholic attempt that leaves much to be desired.
Packaging
Let’s get this out of the way: the packaging is about as thrilling as staring at a blank wall. The label is dull, and the green bottle screams “”skunky beer”” before you even pop the cap.
Look
It has a nice, golden color. There’s a decent head that lingers with some lacing.
Smell
Cracking it open, I caught a whiff that hinted at skunkiness. Not exactly a surprise, given that green glass was practically designed for that.
Mouthfeel
On the palate, there’s decent carbonation. It does a reasonable job of mimicking a light lager, but it’s more like a shadow of one, really.
Taste
It’s uninspiring and bland, with only a whisper of hops on the finish and an unpleasant aftertaste that lingers like a bad decision.
Final Verdict
I sampled this beer in Italy, and I sincerely hope it stays there. Tourtel should think twice before trying to cross the pond with this one.
